Academic and Scientific background:
I am a Canadian graduate from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Health Science (Honours) in Medical Laboratory Science. At UOIT, I had the opportunity to conduct my research on Gram-negative antibiotic resistant bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baummanii in Dr. Ayush Kumar’s laboratory. My research presentation won 1st prize at UOIT’s 6th Annual Research Showcase in the Health Sciences. As part of my final year, I completed my clinical training in microbiology, hematology, biochemistry, histology and transfusion science at the world-renowned Hospital for Sick Children downtown Toronto.
Currently, I work at regional health centre in Ontario as a Medical Technologist in Pathology. At the same time, I earned an MBA at Marylhurst University.
Photographic and Creative background:
My experience and knowledge in photography has been self-taught. Since 2005, I have had the privilege of photographing many new and upcoming bands, as well as many international headlining artists such as Foo Fighters, Björk, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Carrie Underwood and the Dave Matthews Band just to name a few. My work in nature, wildlife and travel has won awards including “Best of Show in Intermediate Division” at the Markham Fair in 2006 and numerous other awards since then. Some of my photographs have even been featured in major publications such as the CBC and Pitchfork.
Until 2009, along side with my co-host and partner in crime Andrew, we hosted our own weekly 2-hour extravaganza of a campus radio show called “Detuned Radio” since 2006. Our program entertained and served students of three institutions, UOIT, Durham College and Trent University on Riot Radio. Also, I am currently an “Advanced Photographer” in the Richmond Hill Camera Club. When I look back in my life, I think that I was inspired to explore different cultures and traditions by a world religions class that I took with Mr. Pivato at St. Augustine Catholic High School.
